The city is a fascinating human invention that has become home to most of the inhabitants of our planet. But how to understand something as complex and yet fragile as a city? The Beginner’s Urban Manual will show you how these large human anthills work, what opportunities they provide us, but especially what problems they face today. Urban planning is a strategy game in which we learn every day how to live and respect each other on this common ground plan. We invite you to join us, because your future is at stake too! For this book, the creators have built a huge model of a paper city. They then captured the unique details of everyday life in illustrations and color photographs. In 2021, the book won a special prize from the New Horizons jury at the Children's Book Fair in Bologna, Italy, as well as the Golden Ribbon Award for the Work of Art of the Year and third place in the Best Book of the Year competition (in the textbook category).
The book will be presented by one of its authors, Osamu Okamura.
