The comic book heroine Octobriana, an animal and sensual warrior with a red star on her forehead, who came from the Soviet Union to fight for the true ideals of the Great October Socialist Revolution. Octobriana and the Russian Underground is a book that shocked the political scene on both sides of the Iron Curtain exactly fifty years ago.


The remarkable story of Petr Sadecký documented the Soviet dissident culture, whose activity consisted in creating an underground comic about a heroine fighting for the rights of the weak and oppressed. Although it turned out to be a hoax very shortly after the book was published, interest in the story persisted. Stolen and ideologically abused by its creator, Octobriana has undergone many revivals and remakes over the years. Its versatility and universality can thus resonate to this day and attract creators across the artistic spectrum. The core of the exhibition is therefore a look at this phenomenon of Czech comics from the perspective of the current generation of young artists.
