The Na rovinu initiative will present 3 comics illustrated by Patrik Antczak on the topic of destigmatization and breaking the taboo surrounding mental illness. The Comics convey the message that it is possible to recover from a mental illness; that people with experience of mental illness have the same rights as everyone else; and that closing your eyes to your own problems may not always be the best solution. The selected three topics - recovery, discrimination and empowerment - all play important roles in destigmatization. The most important thing, however, is always open communication and meeting those who have experienced some mental hiccups or problems themselves - just like the main characters of our comics.
How did the illustrator perceive the creation of destigmatization comics differently from the destigmatization specialist himself? Did they approach the same topic from different angles? How does a person who has personal experience perceive the topic and how does one who has no experience whatsoever with mental problems? And you?
